Oakley Night Jams 3: Cut Edition

Last night was the Oakley Night Jam. Chuck was on the mic, keeping everyone entertained, Tamo was judging snowboarders, Peter helped out with the ski side of things and everyone was throwing down. The prizes weren’t being thrown out for nothing, the kids had to work for ‘em, so the result was a sick little competition. If you haven’t already heard, the park has been moved over to the left side of Cut and it is actually really fun. The park crew had to get creative but they’ve put a pretty rad setup together so check it out this week.

The comp started off with tricks being called out and prizes were given for whoever could do them first. Then, the format was changed up and there were qualifiers, where the first 3 people to do the designated trick would get into finals. Next, finals were moved to the elbow kink where the finalist who did the right trick first won.

In the end, the winners were Mr. Ben Neil on the ski side of things, walking away with a new pair of Oakley Ambush goggles and Oakley sunglasses, and an underdog on the snowboard side of things, whose name I still don’t know, but he fought hard for the win after turfin’ it pretty hard a few times, snaking a pair of Oakley Crowbars for his efforts. All in all, it was an awesome night, one of the best night jams yet! Don’t miss the next one, who knows it could be even better! Here are some shots:

Well there ya have it! Some kid even went as far as saying that Chuck was the funniest guy around. So, Chuck is officially the funniest guy out there and the park is still kickin’ and better than ever, so get up the mountain as soon as you can and have a good old time!

California Dreamin’

Hey guys,

Been really busy, so first blog of the season. We went down to Mammoth for the Grand Prix event a couple weeks ago with some old Grouse Mountain riders Brennen Kurchak, Keenan Filmer and Christian Cretu taking photos. 20 degree weather everyday and sunny skies, couple injuries, solid trip. Enjoy

Cheeers,

Tamo

A Day With The Grouse Pro Team

Recently, there was a competition up on the site in which three riding related questions were asked. This month’s winner, Eric Behn, won an Oakley prize pack as well as a day of riding for him and three buddies with the Grouse pro team!

Despite the lack of snow, I think I can speak for all of us when I say it was still a super awesome day. Check out how the session went down!

YLG update

I know, I know, I am a little late on this update, but I have been swamped with midterms, papers, term projects and many more non snowboarding related THINGS.

So, from what I remember, this was the 2nd stop on the Coors Light You look good rider’s cup series, and it was a 3 star ttr event. Scotty and I rolled up around 8 and registered, conditions were spectacular, BLUEBIRD.

Ran into a lot of grouse locals including Zak and Alek Dolesky, Michael Hoy, Nick Felice, some Grouse riders Jenelle Pritchard, Tamo Campos, Barry Hartman and Matt Belzile. The course was super sick, the jumps were small, but on point. The first feature was a staircase feature which included a downbar, down box and flat down box.

07/08 Team

While you are viewing our brand new site, make sure to check out our new Team section. Each member has a profile and mini slide show. As the season progresses we will be adding more photos to this as well as to our park photo galleries.

Returning this season are JF Fortin, Jesse Fox, and Chris Dufficy. New to the pro line up is Vancouver local Johnny Lyall! When you see them shredding up the hill, don’t be shy to approach them. They all enjoy high fives and shredding with fellow locals. If you ever want to find them, you will probably run into Duff and Jesse in Starbucks and everyone else shredding pow lines with their friends in the Olympic Chair zone.

This season we have expanded our am team roster. We have added a few more up and coming local shredders. Returning for another season is Tamo Campos. You can see him training in the parks as a member of the BC Team. New for this season are Barry Hartman, Jenelle Pritchard, and Graham Haywood. Jenelle is the first female to our team and Graham is the first skier!

Welcome aboard all new members!

Team members will be posting updates and stories of their latest Grouse excursions throughout the season so keep checking back.
