New PYP Edit and other goodies!
What you sayin’!
Chuck here, just letting you know about the new PYP edit, check it out and show all of your friends, we have some big plans in the works so hold tight and prepare to be stoked!! Make sure you get up Grouse Mountain very soon, Shaw Butterworth has been making magic from the snowcat and you will see a five table L-XL line in the park, that is unheard of on the North Shore… so thanks Shaw for all your hard work!
Also check out where the 40 box has been moved to, as well has the down rail from Showdown over the City is up and running now. One last thing, the new up-flat-down or battleship rail has also been installed where the 40 box used to be… I am not posting any photos so you guys get up there and see it yourself!
Bright sun, great friends and a sick park, what more do you need?

Alterna Shoot – Through the lense of Graham Dalik
Sunday March 29th was a beautiful day. Blue skies, warm temperatures, and a 70 foot stepdown manicured to perfection. The Showdown Over the City was a thing of the past but that beast of a jump used for the competition still remained, begging to be hit. Jeff Silcock, the Grouse Mountain Events Manager, invited the Alterna Films crew to come up and do a shoot on the monstrous jump. Mr Silcock also invited a small group of skiers: pro team rider Spencer Watson, local shredder and all around good guy Liam Casey, and yours truly. The jump was meticulously perfected by the park staff (and a few of the riders), and by noon, the session was on.
Unfortunately Spencer Watson was injured early on after overshooting the jump and landing nose heavy, on his left side, near the flat bottom. He went absolutely, unfathomably, HUGE. Spencer decided to call off the rest of the session. But don’t worry, he’s fine now.
I invited my good friend Graham Dalik to come up and shoot some photos. As promised, here are a few of his shots:

Waiting for the session to start.

Beau Bishop rocking the Westbeach tall jacket.

Huge.

Spotting some transition.

In living colour.

Backflip or BASE jump? CJ loves hangtime.

CJ corkin a 540.

Goin huge. Gettin corked. Grabbin tail.

Liam showing Grouse Mountain why he is the man. - Flat Spin 540.
You can check more shots from the session and some of Graham’s other work on his flickr page.
Grouse locals Jason Macfarlane and Brian Choi were also in attendance snapping shots. As this post is already getting a little photo heavy, I will save their shots for another time.
Hope you enjoyed. I sure did.

Showdown from a different point of view!
Hello everyone!
Here is a quick update from Showdown Over The City, but in a different way. All the dudes in this video are from a group called Family Tree and they were all there for the contest, however they found the rookie and quik parks pretty fun… check it!

Y2Play Passes are selling out, go grab one!
We had an awesome shoot yesterday on the showdown course as well, Mr. Liam Casey himself was putting double flips to his feet but they just managed to get away from him, we may be allowed to have another crack later in the week, keep it locked and loaded to grousepark.com and www.YOUTHofTODAY.ca because I know he will stick a few if he gets the chance. Also big props to pro team rider Spencer Watson, he overshot the jump, landing at about 15 feet from the flat bottom, that’s a huge fall! And he got up and walked away, so props!
PYP and Grousepark.com, the perfect combination!

Showdown Went Down, I’ve Got the Pictures to Prove It!
I’m gonna have to keep this short and sweet, seeing as it’s 12:30 am as I write this and I am a huge fan of sleeping. They say pictures say a thousand words. If that’s the case, here’s about 8 grand worth of words. Don’t let the pictures deceive you, the conditions were miserable, but the riding and free snacks made up for the poopy weather. There’ll be more of an update when I wake up in the morning. Enjoy!

The view from the knuckle...if only I had Photoshop vision.

Where's Charlie Grinnell?

PYP filmer Pat King and Grouse Pro Team skiier Spencer Watson.

Our very own Chris Jones keeping score in the judge's booth.

A little course maintenance between heats.

So here is the deal, you submit a video to Pat himself of you repping something SUPER hard, doesn’t have to be napKING, just a video of you repping things super hard, the winner will get some 2010 product that NOBODY has seen yet. You don’t have to buy anything to enter this, grab a camera and go have some fun! Good luck everyone!
