Brian Choi Alterna Shoot Shots

Brian Choi was up Grouse Mountain on March 29th to shoot the Alterna/Showdown session. He got some killer shots! See for yourself.

Showdown winner Sebastien Toutant keeping the sponsors happy!

...did I mention he is only 16 years old?

Ugh, clouds...

I must admit, I do love me some backflips.

Who said shooting into the sun was a bad thing?

Signal Snowboards – Rider Owned and Operated

I recently broke my thumb in practice at the Showdown Over the City so I’ve got a good week left to catch up on my blogging. First off, I wanted to announce that I’m more than stoked to be riding for Signal Snowboards and Celsius. Like an unfaithful boyfriend, I have been eyeing down the Signal website for the past few months, checking out the product at SIA in Las Vegas and have happily made the “board sponsor” transfer.

Evidence that the 156 Park Series can eat powder as well. R: Barry Hartman PH: Bryant Bell

I’ve been riding the 156 Signal Park deck for the past couple weeks and am really stoked. When it dumped, the thing floated ontop of powder. It’s a solid park board that felt great on the 70-foot booter that Grouse Mountain built. The best thing about the Park Series is that you can find one for $400 since it’s Signal’s lowest priced deck.

Grouse Mountain extended their closing until April 26th so don’t pack in your shred anytime soon. With about three weeks left you can be sure the park crew will be on top of their game.

Peace,

Hartman

Jason Macfarlane Alterna Shoot Shots

Sunny skies, pro riders, and a jump bigger than anything the North Shore has seen before… March 29th was a pretty darn good day for a photo shoot. Grouse local, Jason Macfarlane was up Grouse Mountain to shoot the Alterna/Showdown Over the City after session. Here are some of his shots.

Check the goggle shot at the end…damn!

No grab. Huge.

When the takeoff is taller than the scaffolding, you know the jump is good.

Liam Casey corking out.

Timed perfectly...

I got a shot! Jason said he tried this shot about 30 times and these two were the olny ones that worked out. Click the image and head over to newschoolers.com to vote for it!

Beauty.

More shots to come later in the week. Keep checking back!

Word is Grouse Mountain is in top form right now. Get up there before the season is over!

New PYP Edit and other goodies!

What you sayin’!

Chuck here, just letting you know about the new PYP edit, check it out and show all of your friends, we have some big plans in the works so hold tight and prepare to be stoked!! Make sure you get up Grouse Mountain very soon, Shaw Butterworth has been making magic from the snowcat and you will see a five table L-XL line in the park, that is unheard of on the North Shore… so thanks Shaw for all your hard work!

Also check out where the 40 box has been moved to, as well has the down rail from Showdown over the City is up and running now.  One last thing, the new up-flat-down or battleship rail has also been installed where the 40 box used to be… I am not posting any photos so you guys get up there and see it yourself!

Bright sun, great friends and a sick park, what more do you need?

Private Showdown Sunday March 29th

So last Sunday there were a select few skiers and snowboarders invited to hit the showdown jump. From noon to sunset the invites didnt waste a single minute. Sadly I was scheduled to work back in Coquitlam on that date, but still managed to get a few shots in after selling tools and welders for 9 hours.

Y2Play Passes are selling out, go grab one!

We had an awesome shoot yesterday on the showdown course as well, Mr. Liam Casey himself was putting double flips to his feet but they just managed to get away from him, we may be allowed to have another crack later in the week, keep it locked and loaded to grousepark.com and www.YOUTHofTODAY.ca because I know he will stick a few if he gets the chance. Also big props to pro team rider Spencer Watson, he overshot the jump, landing at about 15 feet from the flat bottom, that’s a huge fall! And he got up and walked away, so props!

PYP and Grousepark.com, the perfect combination!
