Oakley Night Jams, Scene 2, Take 2

Just wanted to let all you kids know that the Oakley Night Jams for January has been rescheduled to this coming Friday, the 22nd. Location is to be determined, but will probably be in the Quiksilver Terrain Park. I know there’s not a lot of snow, but we’re making up for that by giving away a bunch of free stuff, so you can’t really say no to that. It’ll be a good time, for sure. Come up, bring friends! If it rains again, I’m going to be really pissed off. More pissed off than if I were to die by shark attack.

Heads Up!

Yo,

Tomorrow is the second Oakley Night Jams.  Same time as usual, 7pm.  The location is going to be either the Quik Park or the Paradise Jib Park.  Wasn’t that helpful?  Anyways, chances are that if you’re at Grouse Mountain tomorrow night, you’ll hear where it is and you can just follow your nose, so to speak.  I want to see the boarders repping harder this time around and I want to see someone other than Brian Choi win all the ski goods.  Also, come say hi to me.  I’m a pretty nice guy, usually.

Cheers,

Sam

Under a Minute in Quik Park

Both Graeme and Pat from PYP were around Grouse Mountain over the holidays, filming and having a grand ol’ time. Check their latest edit featuring Spencer Watson and Liam Casey in the Quiksilver Park. A cameo appearance from Chuck to cap it all off as well!

Oh, speaking of Chuck, he’s ripped now. JEA boyyyy! Charlie “The Situation” Grinnell, ladies.

More Quik Park

This Christmas break has been quite an interesting one. We have been lucky enough to run into only a few cloudy days and almost none of the typical rainy, miserable conditions that Vancouver is famous for. Still, everything has its downside. Next to no precipitation and consistent cold temperatures have lead to hard pack conditions, which are especially noticeable when the sun sets. However, with the help of Grouse Mountain’s fleet of snow makers this Christmas break, the park crew has done a good job of keeping things up to standard. Speaking of Park Crew, Shayan and I did a few filming laps with Ryan and Tom (and a quick cameo by Quentin Deboice!) when they weren’t doing maintenance and Shayan threw this little edit together. Enjoy.

A Little Update from the Park Staff

What up? What up?!!

So we figured it was about that time again. After what can only be called the early season sadness that is rain (I got to spend that week frolicking the beaches of SoCal…suckers), we’re back at it for a little park rebuild.

For those of you who haven’t graced the park in the past week, get in there! Some highlights include a nice mellow jump with a hint of the wu for those who like to get inverted, a 20’ box gap 40’ box combo for your jibbing pleasure followed by a newly renovated s-rail and a handful of other goodies. So, now’s the time with the sick weather inversion to get up and get your shots in.

Below are some teaser pics of things we’ve been working on that you’ll be enjoying soon as the snow starts falling again, and some of the mountain folk on their rounds. Oh, and on that note, a huge shout-out to the Grouse Mountain snow makers, because without them we wouldn’t even be thinking about jumps and park rebuilds.

And last, I leave you with a teaser of new box pieces, some wood walls, and, if you look real hard, an oversized picnic table?

Quiksilver Park Open Top to Bottom

Lower Side Cut was opened today, expanding the Quik Park to its full season length.  To think that last year on this day we had just opened Paradise with 4 features, and this year we’re boasting 19 between Paradise and Quik Park.  Go snowmaking!  A shout out to our snowmaking crew, without these guys, you’d be riding jib park for the foreseeable future.  They have been absolutley killing it for the terrain park at Grouse Mountain this year.  More features are being added almost daily, and I’ll have some pictures up here soon.

Seasons Greetings
