The Oakley Night Jam is back this Friday and we’re doing it bigger and better than we’ve done it all year/all last year/all the year before that…you get the idea. Anyways, last time we gave away two pairs of goggles, word has it there there is more from where that came from as well as a pair of limited edition Grouse Mountain/Oakley collab Crowbars. I’ve got a pair myself and they are the bomb dot com. Remember, it’s a free comp, so don’t be shy and come on out, regardless of skill level. Last night jam, the winner was a guy who had been riding for a mere 3 weeks and board slid the elbow kink in the face of some heavy competition from Grouse locals Shayan Aghourlikhani and AC Cervantes, as well as park ranger Tom Robinson. We’re all about progression and fun, so we’re bringing our very own Charlie Grinnell back on the mic to keep you all entertained with his vocal cords, which, rumour has it, are insured for over a million dollars. Anyways, long story short, be there and get some free product while having a good time. We’re gonna mix up the format a little this time so you’ll want to make sure you’re there for whatever crazy idea we come up with.
This past Friday was the third night jam of the season. The jam took place in the new Cut park, which is amazing for the amount of snow we have. The grand prizes included two Oakley goggles and a pair of Oakley sunglasses. Check out what went down during and after the jam in the little edit below. Thanks to Charlie for announcing.
Good news, there’s fresh snow on the ground. The recent dip in temperatures have resulted in a frosting on all the locals. Much needed frosting, to say the least. Let’s hope the temperatures stay low and the base starts to build up so the park crew can get more going in the Quiksilver park. Not to say what they’ve provided us with given the conditions isn’t absolutely phenomenal. You guys kill it! Anyways, that’s all I really wanted to say. Also, if you really want to know what my unfiltered thoughts are on snowboarding, the Olympics and life in general, feel free to get on Twitter and follow my useless banter or get in touch with me. Or don’t. Your call, really.
PS: I miss riding with Jordan Johnstone and Max Buchanan. If you’re reading this, go riding more.
Here are some more pictures from the Oakley Night Jam, taked by one of our latest additions to Grousepark.com, Hamish Baxter. Our bloggers kill it!
Just wanted to let all you kids know that the Oakley Night Jams for January has been rescheduled to this coming Friday, the 22nd. Location is to be determined, but will probably be in the Quiksilver Terrain Park. I know there’s not a lot of snow, but we’re making up for that by giving away a bunch of free stuff, so you can’t really say no to that. It’ll be a good time, for sure. Come up, bring friends! If it rains again, I’m going to be really pissed off. More pissed off than if I were to die by shark attack.
Here is a little something about the Oakley Night Jam presented by Coastal Riders we had on Feb 6. Biggest news was our very own Charlie Grinnel was co-MC, and did a great job rounding up the kids and keeping it fun. props charlie!

This update is a brief one, but I found not one, but TWO sick edits online that I want you to see. The first one is by a group called Clown School, they are based out of the US. The edit is titled “Crap!” and it looks like it is a compilation of some shots that didn’t make their “real” edits. There are some funny falls, cool and innovative tricks and just some overall shred.
The second video features the skiing of a nice chap named Leigh Powis. Leigh hails from Whistler, BC and he is sick! When I am back on skis, I plan to get up there and get some good shots of him in the spring. Note: bear with me with the quality of the video as it is not mine.
On a side note, come up Grouse Mountain for this week’s edition of the Oakley Night Jam! It’s going to be super sick as I will be co-MCing the event, so listen for some tech tricks and funny jokes. Don’t hesitate to come by and say hey, cause I’d love to meet you!
Ok so I have had a whirlwind of a week and some great things have happened and some not so great things have happened. The not so great things consisted of me catching mono, tonsulitious and strep throat and having to be in the hospital for 2 days…luckily I am out now and we can get back to business. The thing that really pushes my buttons is now my back surgery has to be moved because they wont cut you open when your sick cause your immune system is weak and they don’t want you to die… they have their reasons.
The good news is I have finally set up a vimeo+ account so videos are a go, I have like 4 ready to put up, including the video below from the first Oakley Night Jam back on December 19th/08. I also talked to Future Shop about my camera and it should be back in a week which is sick cause then we will be back in business fo real!!!
