If you caught the opening ceremonies last night, you probably saw the opening snowboard sequence in the backcountry. If you were wondering who exactly dropped in through the rings with that burly indy, it was Grouse Mountain’s own Johnny Lyall. With a little help from Katal Innovations, makers of the big air bag, Johnny was able to air through the Olympic rings and ride out onto the floor of BC Place with the eyes of a few billion people on him. Here a picture from Matt Houghton’s blog on Push.ca.
Atta boy, J-Bone! Hope you’re having a good time in Barcelona.
Recently, there was a competition up on the site in which three riding related questions were asked. This month’s winner, Eric Behn, won an Oakley prize pack as well as a day of riding for him and three buddies with the Grouse pro team!
Despite the lack of snow, I think I can speak for all of us when I say it was still a super awesome day. Check out how the session went down!
I’ve got some pretty hyped news for you. We’re opening up a contest for all you Grousepark.com faithfuls. The prize that you’ll be dueling for will be a day on the hill for you and three buddies with the Grouse Mountain Pro Team on Sunday, January 17th, as well as a prize pack for you from our sponsors. You could tell all your friends that you are now friends with not ONE pro, but multiple pros, thus making you the coolest cat on the block. How do you win? It’s pretty easy. There are three questions below. You need to send an email to contest@grousepark.com with correct answers for all three and we’ll put your name into a draw. The deadline to get your answers in is January 13th at noon. That gives you a week. We’ll announce the winner later that night. Please remember to mention your first and last name, as well as a telephone number that we can reach you at to set things up. So, without further ado, here are the questions. Get Google fired up!
1. In which team snowboard film did Chris Dufficy make his comeback and what was the movie called?
2. What was the trick that won the 2002 U.S. Open Big Air (skiing) and who won it?
3. Which North American resort was the first to allow snowboarding?
Thought I would post this link on the blog. This winter was a great season to shred the local mountains and ride good powder. For a week straight I had the pleasure of riding Grouse every morning with Devun, The guy i’ve looked up to ever since I started snowboarding. It snowed every night and we woke up early every morning for the first tram ride up… then we would ride Olympic chair until our legs were wobbly. It was an amazing week! This is a little clip that Karl from ISdesgin put up on his blog.
Endeavor just put up their new site… and it looks pretty good! Check out the new boards, clothing, online store, team, artists, and downloads for your computer and your iPhone!
Went up to Grouse Mountain the other day with some of the 8mile homies Dufficy, Kale, Dionne, Mikey Rencz, Benji Ritchie, and Paavo filming a bit for some of our new web videos! It was a blast! We were joking about how it was like a Vacation up at Grouse because it’s was sunny and hot … meanwhile it was cold and cloudy down in Vancouver. Here are a few pics of the hang and a little video clip of kale doing a lap!
The Boyzz love the wings at Altitudes bistro!
Hanging above the clouds!
Kale brought up his whole family! Grouse is fun for all ages!
