We’ve got a bunch of stuff to give away , so we’re having another Grousepark.com contest. Up for grab are a pair of Grouse Mountain/Oakley Crowbar collab goggles as well as a prize pack from our sponsors. Here’s the rundown.
Take some pictures of anything ski/board realated.
Pick your favourite.
Email it to contest@grousepark.com.
From there, our team of bloggers will pick the top three entries and the pictures will get posted on our Facebook fan page. Then you gotta get your friends to vote on it by liking the pictures. The shot with the most like in two days will win the contest. Simple as that! Deadline for photo submissions is Wednesday, March 18th and please include rider credits if possible.
Remember: They have to be pictures that you have taken, not pictures of you riding taken by someone else. This is for up and coming photogs.
The Oakley Night Jam is back this Friday and we’re doing it bigger and better than we’ve done it all year/all last year/all the year before that…you get the idea. Anyways, last time we gave away two pairs of goggles, word has it there there is more from where that came from as well as a pair of limited edition Grouse Mountain/Oakley collab Crowbars. I’ve got a pair myself and they are the bomb dot com. Remember, it’s a free comp, so don’t be shy and come on out, regardless of skill level. Last night jam, the winner was a guy who had been riding for a mere 3 weeks and board slid the elbow kink in the face of some heavy competition from Grouse locals Shayan Aghourlikhani and AC Cervantes, as well as park ranger Tom Robinson. We’re all about progression and fun, so we’re bringing our very own Charlie Grinnell back on the mic to keep you all entertained with his vocal cords, which, rumour has it, are insured for over a million dollars. Anyways, long story short, be there and get some free product while having a good time. We’re gonna mix up the format a little this time so you’ll want to make sure you’re there for whatever crazy idea we come up with.
The clock is ticking down on the SanDisk Best Photo Sequence contest. April 1, 2010 is the deadline – which means you only have about 30 days to get your sequences uploaded for a chance to win $5,000!
SanDisk has teamed up with Freeskier to put on this epic photo sequence contest. Here’s how it works:
1. Get out on the hill and shoot some sequences
2. Morph your sequences
3. Upload your best sequences (from this year or from years past) to BestPhotoSequence.com.
4. Repeat steps 1 – 3 throughout the season as many times as you’d like.
5. Sit back and wait to see if you’ve won the grand prize of $5,000 cash money.
The contest closes April 1, 2010, so get to it, and good luck!
With the Olympics wrapping up and the gold medals building up, it is apparent we are well on our way to making Canadian history. For me the Olympics have been very busy thus the late release of this edit, which was filmed within the first week of the Olympics in the re – designed cut park. With a couple hours of filming with Shayan, Jason, Corey and Quentin, I was able to come out with this edit. Unlike many others, I tried to make this one different, in this case through the teddy bear crisis style rider/timelapse. If your not sure what I mean check it out for yourself.
Bill Hawley and the local crew went up a couple days ago and got some shots in the newly rebuilt park. I got to go ride it last night and it’s a whole bunch of fun. Get up there while the sun’s up and the snow’s soft.
Ever seen a pickle rolling around the park? Sounds bizarre, but I have seen a lot more than usual lately and decided to look into these “Park Pickles”. The Gnu Park Pickle is a 2010 board and it has an asymmetrical side cut which makes heelside turns much smoother. As I researched more about this board, I read a lot about how smooth frontside spins are because of this new technology(the sidecuts are deeper on the heelside). Also, aside from its name, it seems awesome on groomers and in powder. When compared to the Libtech Skate Banana, the verdict was that it was a bit stiffer, which was a good attribute and also that you didn’t need as much preload and pop to hit some of those bigger features. All the reviews I read were positive for the “Park Pickle”. So, if you’re looking for a new snowboard and are unsure of what you want or need, the Gnu Park Pickle looks like a good choice. It seems like a very versatile snowboard that allows you to have all the freedom you’d like.
With the whole public relations and media hype around the Olympics, it has been a while since some of the athletes have been able to do what they came here to do. Last night, US National Halfpipe team rider Shaun White, coach Bud Keene and friends Gabe and Kevin came up to Grouse Mountain so that they could get back on snow after having not ridden for almost a week. The conditions weren’t too bad, the rain was there, but visibility was good, and thanks to our new Grouse Mountain Oakley Crowbars, Chuck and I were able to see without having to deal with foggy goggles. Stay posted for a segment introducing you to these goggles, they’re sick.
We got up to the top around 8pm and took a lap through the park on Cut, then head up on the Peak chair to Peak face, dropping in on some side hits. Shaun then ducked into the skicross drop in before we cut in to Expo. Next up was a lap around Heaven’s Sake, back into Expo and a couple more runs down Peak before heading in. The mission to get back on snow, get warmed and have some fun was a pretty big success. Big ups to Jeff Silcock for helping us out with this one.
We’ve got a lot more Olympic content you won’t find anywhere else coming up, so keep it locked to Grousepark.com.
