The shoot up north…

Well more north than North Vancouver lets say…

So to start off here was the crew: Charlie Grinnel Grinnell, Pat King, Graeme Meiklejohn, Spencer Watson, Dan Jonas, Liam Casey, and me Scott Titterington.

So around 3pm Thursday, I jump in my car, and go pick up Liam and Dan from their places in my little GTI.  We managed to pack 3 pairs of skis and a snowboard, filled with cam gear, clothes, and just enough food to survive.  Dan was in the back seat with gear crammed all the way around him, and well suprisingly enough we got a few odd looks on the way up to our first stop Westbank Kelowna.  As we arrived from a 5 hour car ride we met up with the rest of the crew and got straight to work.  The first night was sort of rough due to not skiing or riding for a couple days and starting off with such a gnarly rail.  We still ended up with a couple wicked shots though, and quite a few crashes.

The second day we got out around 11ish and headed out to a handrail which was shot in one of the sandbox movies.  As said by Spence the cops came and luckily enough they didn’t have any problem with what we were doing.  I gotta say, I sure wasnt expecting the constables response to sliding a handrail in a residential alley…  Later on that day we basically went to scope out what else was around town, and call it a day.  Getting back to Pat’s place around12:30am, we uploaded our footage and went straight to bed.

So Saturday we went full out and headed out by 10 o’clock.  We headed out to a steep handrail by a highschool.  Shortly into the sesh we had a delay due to Dan catching a back edge and concussing himself.  Charlie and Graeme went with him to the hospital as Spencer, Liam and Pat and I finished off this railing, and headed to the next spot.  As Dan and the hospital gang were doing their thing, Liam went to scope out this pretty crazy line a few steps away.  We had some time so we set up the line and shortly later Liam ended up stomping it like nothing.

After we got back from picking the rest up at the hospital we headed back to Pats place to upload footage once again.  Once it got dark we headed up to Apex Mountain and shot a wallride for the most part.  Liam and Spencer were celebraties.  Liam gave some kids a couple Choice Apparel stickers, and Spencer gave away a Napking bandana.  The kids gathered around and cheered them both on while they lit up the wallride.  On the way back we started the generator up and hit some pow laps in the dark 15 feet from the highway which turned into a couple cool pictures. As which ended we headed back to Pat’s and slept the night away.

9 30am arrives Sunday and we pack up to go back home to either the Mainland or Whistler since most of us have school or work to get back to Monday.

ps. ill be posting some actual riding pictures in some future posts so keep an eye open!

See Ya for now!

Progressive Youth Productions

Alright so this update has some very exciting news.  I am greatly excited to announce that I have decided to fold up Blue Magic Media and I have joined forces with my 2 good friends Pat King and Graeme Meiklejohn and we will go by the name Progressive Youth Productions or PYP.

Pat King is the Owner of napKING (www.mynapking.com) a very successful apparel company that sells bandanas and stuff like that for now. Graeme Meiklejohn is a Grouse Mountain local who has moved to Whistler for this season and he operates Yay!uer Media.

PYP has a new website up and running at youthoftoday.ca, there will be edits, blogs, photos and all of that exciting stuff.  Also, please join the PYP Facebook Group.

Grouse Mountain Pro Team rider Spencer Watson is in a couple of these edits so watch for that.  Another great part of this merger is that you guys will get to see some more coverage of Spencer while he is living in Whistler, which is lucky because you guys wouldn’t usually get to see this with Blue Magic Media.

This is a very exciting merger and look for great things to come from PYP as we have gathered a great group and we are very excited to entertain everyone, so remember to keep it locked to grousepark.com, mynapking.com, youthoftoday.ca, and the Facebook group

PYP!

Yoooo Everyone!

Yoooo Everyone!!!

Welcome to the Grouse Mountain Terrain Park Blog, my name is Charlie Grinnell and I am one of your park bloggers for this season.  Feel free to add me on Facebook or go to blue magic media on Vimeo to view some quick edits of mine.  Also if you see me on the hill truckin’ along with my cane, don’t be shy to come say hey and chat.

I’m super stoked to be one of the chosen bloggers, I have a great feeling about this season and I am excited to keep you guys entertained. I know all the other bloggers and they are super sick dudes as well so everyone should be excited cause this is gonna be fun.

I know whenever I go to a site and I see a lot of writing, I am not too stoked to have to read it all to understand and get the good stuff (ironic how I have a huge write-up)… SO!!!! I will be doing only a little bit of writing in my blogs (with the exception of this one), and they will be largely photo and video based. I think that will give everyone a better idea of what’s going on and videos are fun.

I plan to cover all sorts of topics, we will have interviews, new videos that I think are sick, music stuff, coverage of Grouse Mountain contests and events and everything in between.

First of all I would like to throw a shout-out to a good friend of mine named Spencer Watson. He is the newest member of the Grouse Mountain Pro Team.  Congrats boyyyyy!!!!!! You have probably seen him on at one point or another on the mountain, the dude always has a smile on his face and although he lives in Whistler now, he will be around as much as he can.

There won’t be a video in this update as I just made 4 edits in the last 2 days and posted them on vimeo.com or in the Grouse Mountain Terrain Parks Facebook Page…. In my next update there will be an edit from the first Oakley Night Jam of the season, so look for that.

Stay golden ponyboy, stay golden

Introducing the Grouse Park Blogospondents

chris_dufficy_scarth_photo-3It is my pleasure to introduce to the Grouse Park community our new team members: The Blogospondents.

I was overwhelmed with the applications I received over the last 3 weeks; our Grouse Mountain terrain parks sure see their fair share of articulate and engaging skiers and riders. In fact, I was so impressed with the calibre of applicants that I couldn’t actually narrow it down to just five.

So I changed the rules.

This group of six guys brings a really well rounded set of skills to the community. Ranging in age from 18 to 23 with both skiers and snowboarders in the mix and excellent skills in the park, creative writing, park photography and video editing, these guys are going to keep you entertained all winter.

Plus, we’ve now got our pro team all set up to bring you their insights as well, so click the RSS link above and subscribe today. You don’t want to miss the conversation that’s going to be flowing in here. Watch for the first introductions coming soon – these guys are going to tell you a little more about themselves before they launch into the world of snow sports blogging.

So now, without further delay, I bring you the Grouse Mountain Blogospondents:

  • Cam Harris
  • Charlie Grinnell
  • Daniel Jonas
  • Scott Titterington
  • Chris Jones
  • Sam Masih

Welcome to grousepark.com gentlemen. Make yourselves comfortable.
