Quiksilver Showdown Over the City

With the city in view, the Quiksilver Showdown ran full-blast last Sunday. All riders were throwing down and out of the many competitors, the results came down to Zach Stone landing the Best trick, Bobby Balharry placing third, Jeremy Cloutier placing 2nd and Eric Willet with the win.

With my t2i in hand and riders throwing down, I was stoked to get to film these guys.  Check out the edit!

Level 1 Superunknown

Aaaah, it’s that time of year again. Production powerhouse Level 1 picks one lucky up-and-comer to take their spot among skiing’s elite in Level 1′s next film. Previous winners have included Corey Vanular, Tom Wallisch, and most recently, Logan Imlach. Check out one of the first finalists, Dane Ulsifer.

This year’s finalists are being released one-by-one, exclusively on Freeskier Magazine’s website. You can also view the sickness of the 16 honorable mentions here.

Nipwitz

Have you ever heard of Nipwitz? If not, you will soon. These guys from Finland are set to burst onto the scene this season. Churning out multiple webisodes all last season, all of which match the quality of big hitters like Level 1, these creative jibbers are taking urban, and filmmaking, to the next level. Here is their first webisode of the season:

Check out their website for information and updates, and you can watch their epidodes from last year here.

And you probably don’t need me to tell you this, but the park crew is killing it right now. I was up Monday night, new features include super fun cannon pontoon, elbow kink in a new place, and a soon-to-be-open rebuilt #4 jump on the cut line. And Y2Plays are now on sale too, so get up here!

Burke’s Going to Alaska!!!

This video just got posted, this is so rad! My good homie and work buddy, was the first official winner of Rome’s Ticket to Alaska!

This is a North American wide contest, and he won for selling the most Rome gear in all of Canada and the States!! It’s an all expenses paid trip to Alaska, where Rome flies you out and you spend a week shreddin and hangin with pro riders as they all come together to get some of the best terrain in the world! check out the site for more info here, Wooo!! So the other night pro Rome rider MFR (babe) and our rep Derrick, showed up at the back door with a big prize poster and confetti, and gave him the surprise of a lifetime. Beers and good times were had. It’s all in the footage here.

A big shout out to Tyler, if you’ve ever been in the shop I’m sure you’ve seen this guy, if not, next time you’re in the dub give him a big high five!

Congrats again brudda! Stooooked CLASSIC WESTBEACH

Last Weekend with the Nomis Crew

Last weekend the boys from Nomis came up and shreded the Quik Park. Here’s the edit they put together for your viewing pleasure. All these kids all have a pretty hypnotic style, and are able to make even a nosepress your favourite thing to watch. I want to go snowboarding now.

Snow in the City!

As I’m sure you saw, Vancouver has recently been blanketed with a covering of fluffy white snow. And what do we do when it snows in the city? Slide some handrails! On Sunday, with a crew composed of Myself, Shawn Greensides, Christopher Peake and Ben Funk, we headed out to do a little bit of urban. Though it turned out to be a little wet, we still had a great time, and hit some features we’ve been looking at for awhile. Everyone got some tricks they were stoked on, and all in all it was a great day! Below is a little edit of all the great crashes from the day.

And with all this new snow, Grouse is in PRIME condition. Bye for now!
