Hey everyone! As some of you may know, I have gone to New Zealand for the summer to work and snowboard. I'm working as park crew at Cardrona Mountain while living in Wanaka. I will be doing a couple of posts about life in New Zealand and what it's like traveling to the other side of the world to chase an endless winter. For this first post I'm going to share some photos to get you acquainted with what expect from the terrain park on Cardrona, as well as a little bit about what it is like living in Wanaka.
Wanaka is located in the middle of the mountains in the southern island of New Zealand. It's climate is very similar to Vancouver except there are many more sunny days throughout the winter. The clear sky makes for amazing park laps with lots of beautiful snow on the mountains
One of my favourite things about New Zealand is Meat Pies. Instead of late night pizza shops like we have in Vancouver, they have bakeries with a window that sells fresh meat pies. A meat pie is the perfect food because you can have it for any meal at any time of the day. If Grouse Mountain started selling pies at the chalet the world would be a better place. A new meat pie shop just opened up in downtown that you can check out and see what I'm talking about.
